Vista and Photoshop or InDesign - Escape key stops working

Many people reported the the escape key stops working in all running apps while some Adobe tools as Photoshop or InDesign are running. It was suggested to hit Ctrl+Esc instead. But unfortunately this doesn't work all the time. I found out that Win+Esc works very reliable.
